Message keep in mind, i just found out myself...

Current News:
7/23/2004: Well just as soon as I update the site since what, a year? and tell you I moved to Georgia to work with Z1 Motorsports, I just as soon am leaving to move back to Florida - Daytona. I moved up here a little over a year ago to work with them after already having a really good business relationship setup with Z1 selling my ECUs and visiting them to tune customers' Z's. Things went relatively well over the course of the last year at Z1 - I came to work with Z1 because I saw a great opportunity to develop my ideas into products for my favorite car, a great opportunity to promote the sales of the performance items I already created, and mostly because I just wanted to do it so much that I felt it was something I needed to do. Up to that point I enjoyed doing things to my Z all the time, trying to make it even better and learn it - my obsessive-compulsive nature I guess. =) After working 40+ hours a week for 'the man' I always had energy for the Z as well as ideas, but seemingly not enough time.. to play. =) I pulled off an NA-TT conversion, learned ECU programming, built the ZEMulator, the DOOLZ, and refined my ability to tune the powerplant systems. It only made sense in every way I could think of to put myself where I knew I would love to be.

It wasn't all a bowl of cherries in the beginning though - Z1 suffered a huge loss when a 400' long chicken-coup packed to the hilt with some 36 parts cars and shelves of used parts went up in fire.. The impact of that was quick and significant as used parts were the primary revenue stream of the company. Somehow we made it through - we were determined and we had the talent. The things we went on to do from there rocked and the Z community came to regard Z1 as a complete performance Z specialist that could build your Z anyway you wanted. In the past year I developed several of my ideas into potent performance products - performance engine building processes were refined, a line of turbocharger upgrades, 'power packages', a water injection setup, the DOOLZ v.2, and sidemount intercoolers - just to name a few. All of them brought quality and top-notch performance at very competitive prices. The business today is doing well on these ventures as well as with the products I brought with me.

Some changes in the business are being made and Z1 is going after bigger fish now - I see their direction as having a lot of potential to optimize their work and allow them to grow. After all of the deliberations regarding company direction and financial structure as well as some personal time off to do some 'soul searching', I found my clarity - I have decided that I will be pursuing other options. I wish them the best of luck and hope things go well for them.

My option: I've really wanted to get back to my roots and dive right into ECU technology again. I simply haven't had the time to devote to furthering my understanding and experience with ECU technology while working 60+ hours a week at Z1. We can be honest here too, I love the car to death, the only problem is the Z32 isn't going to be around forever. I may be the silver headed goon driving 20MPH down the interstate in a Z32 one sunday afternoon, 2050, but we are in a new generation of the Z and there's a lot of work to be done with this reborn supercar. With the new Z and the projected release of the GTR in 2007, a fresh opportunity that's right up my alley is right here before me. Product development of ECU technology for the Nissan fleet of OBD2 systems will renew the 'challenge' and I've been looking forward to it now for some time.

As for my time at Z1, it was an experience like I could never have possibly imagined. A lot of accomplishments, a lot of disappointments, drama, fair praise, criticism, more Ni[x]it :), 811RWHP, and I even got my mug in a magazine. :) I take with me a few more grey hairs, a lot of lessons learned, and even more experience. I leave behind one of the hardest years I've yet worked, but looking back at it all, I loved every 525,960 minutes of it! Take a risk on something you love, you'll never regret it.

Thankyou - to everyone!

"As the Z32 gets older and decreases in value it becomes affordable by lower income and often less desirable people whose tastes reflect their personality and social standing.- Marshall 17:37:05 10/10/03
